TwitterSpace #1: Sam Bankman-Fried

Episode #1: Sam Bankman-Fried, CEO of FTX

Our inaugural interview features Sam Bankman-Fried, formerly the wealthiest individual under 30. Beginning his career as a trader at Jane Street after graduating from MIT, he later founded the cryptocurrency exchange FTX.

I met Sam while working in blockchain management consulting, before I began teaching UCLA's Blockchain Management Certificate Program. We discussed launching educational initiatives akin to Binance's Academy, promoting leveraged tokens with lower risk profiles for retail traders instead of emphasizing the often complex futures exchange, and advancing educational efforts in the field.

During this interview, FTX was facing regulatory scrutiny, signaling a challenging phase for the company. Due to my prior relationship with Sam, he trusted me to conduct the interview, alongside journalists from prestigious publications such as The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.

I was fortunate in that hundreds of thousands of listeners tuned in live as I interviewed Sam for an hour.

This attention catapulted me into the national spotlight, leading to offers to appear on several news programs. Ultimately, I accepted invitations to appear on Neal Cavuto's show on Fox Business, a program I had often watched during my time as a technology analyst.
